- The "BlueCoat" clip
About this Tutorial
mokey allows you to build and track selections, save a project and then reload it with a different clip. The main use of this feature is for handling high-resolution material such as HD and 2K. Tracking is computationally intensive, and you can often save time by tracking at a lower resolution.
The workflow goes like this:
- Generate ½ or ¼ resolution proxies
- Load the proxies into mokey
- Define and track the objects in mokey as normal
- Save the project
- Load the project, changing the clip to the original high resolution clip
- Continue with the mokey operations: object removal, matte creation, stabilization etc. mokey will automatically rescale all the information stored in the project file.
Loading the Proxies
Load up the BlueCoatHalveSize clip. Use the Mask settings Top: 4, Left: 2, Right: 2 and Bottom: 2.
Selections and Tracking
Define selections for the hills and ground plane, and finally for the man.

Image 4 - Selections in frame 1
In the tracker parameters, set the hills and ground plane selections to the Perspective motion model. Track all the selections through the clip. You may need to adjust the selection of the man to keep him inside the contour.
Reloading the original clip
Now save the project. Reload it and change the clip to the original BlueCoat clip. You can now apply object removal and matte creation at the higher resolution.
