How do I install my floating licence on IRIX?
To install the license server you must have root privileges.
- Download the Imagineer Systems Licence Manager for IRIX.
- Extract the archive and log in as root.
- Execute ./install_isllmgrd.sh
- Copy your licence file (isl_license.dat) into /usr/ISL/FLEXlm/. The licence file will have been sent to you as an email attachment.
- Start the server by typing
/etc/init.d/isllmgrd start
The server will start automatically at system startup, this can be controlled using the chkconfig system command. FLEXlm messages are logged to /var/sysadm/isllmgrd/isllmgrd.log. The init script accepts the usual start and stop commands, and also restart, status (which runs lmstat) and reread, which rereads the licence file. The daemon is run by default as the guest user, if this does not exist on your system either create it or edit the script to use a different non-root user.
To use the license server from Imagineer Systems products, open the file license.dat and copy & paste the contents into the application's licensing window, available through Help->View License

The layer name looks like a fireworks display and mokey runs very slowly. I have an NVIDIA graphics card.
There is an incompatibility between some NVIDIA graphics drivers and mokey. This problem usually appears with GeForce 4 based products and Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP.
The solution is to switch to NVIDIA driver version 30.82, which is available from the NVIDIA website.
How should I configure the File Cache?
- Q: My machine has a system drive and a disk array. Should I setup the file cache to the system drive or the disk array?
- You should set the File Cache to use the disk array as it
- is faster
- has more space
- Q: Should the file cache be the same as the file location?
- The File Cache can be any drive attached to the system, or even a network drive. Ideally use the fastest drive available.
- Q: I set the File Cache to the disk array, but I do not see any temp files created within the folder.
- This may be because you have a lot of memory in the system. The application will only cache to disk once it runs out of RAM. Try it with a very long / high resolution clip to test this.
- Q: In the C drive, there are MokeyTemp + MoTemp folders, what are they for?
- They were created as default File Cache folders - you can delete them once you have changed the File Cache to use another drive / folder.
Why am I being asked on every start up if I want to configure the application?
This will happen if you don't have permission to write the preferences file. Check that you have write access to
Windows:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the Windows Registry
Mac OS X:
- The file /Library/Preferences/com.Imagineer.plist

I can't get my floating license installed on Mac OS X!
If the client is having any problems getting his software to run, follow these troubleshooting steps:
General
- Confirm that the client is using the files came in the enclosed zip file in their license email. They should NOT be copying from the body of the email program as this can corrupt the license file they are using.
- Confirm that the client has copied the correct file (license.dat) into the license window of the software.
- If the license will not save, the client is still running the application from the DMG file. Have them copy the file over to their hard drive and then install the license.
Host ID and Hostname
- Confirm that the isL_license.dat and the license.dat are edited correctly with the either the ip address or the name of the server.
- If using the server name, be sure that the license includes the .local at the end of the server name. Also, no spaces are included in the name.
- If the client is receiving an error -15 or -96, the server is not running correctly. Follow these steps to fix most of these problems.
- Open a terminal window
- Type in this command (or copy and paste):
cd /Library/Application\ Support/Imagineer\ Systems/FLEXlm - Type or copy this command next:
./lmutil lmpath -override all /Library/Application\ Support/Imagineer\ Systems/FLEXlm/Licenses/isl_license.dat - You should see this reported back to you:
lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2005 Macrovision Europe Ltd. and/or Macrovision Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
New path for LM_LICENSE_FILE: /Library/Application Support/Imagineer Systems/FLEXlm/Licenses/isl_license.dat
- Start your license server by typing this:
./lmgrd - You should see a bunch of stuff printing in your terminal window. When it is done printing in the window, hit the return key to get the prompt back up.
- Type this command to check the status:
./lmutil lmstat - You should see this:
lmutil - Copyright (c) 1989-2005 Macrovision Europe Ltd. and/or Macrovision Corporation. All Rights Reserved. Flexible License Manager status on Wed 11/14/2007 08:45
License server status: 27000forces1.local
License file(s) on forces1.local: /Library/Application Support/Imagineer Systems/FLEXlm/Licenses/isl_license.dat:
forces1.local: license server UP (MASTER) v10.8
Vendor daemon status (on forces1.local): isl: UP v10.8
- At this point your license server should be up and running, Try launching your application on your client machine.
- If the client is receiving an error -15 or -96, the server is not running correctly. Follow these steps to fix most of these problems.
- Open a terminal window
Example: computer is named “bob’s computer”. The correct server name for this system would be bobs_computer.local If you are ever unsure you can open the system preferences panel and select Sharing. There you select the edit button for the system name and it will list the name in the correct format.
